The Outdoor Medical Incident Database (OMID) is an incident management system designed to help organizations manage risk. It can identify areas of potential risk and point to causes of incidents. It is also designed to keep a record of incidents for future reference.

Like any tool, techniques need to be learnt and practiced to get the best results. Reports alone will not reduce the numbers of incidents occurring. The information generated, when properly analysed, will allow policies and practices to be changed that will reduce the risks.
